At 335 acres, Busch Gardens is the premier theme park in the Tampa Bay area. The park has an African theme, and is home to more than 12,000 animals from 300 different species. If rides are more your thing, check out the thrilling triple-launch coaster, Cheetah Hunt, or the family-friendly Cobra’s Curse, where no two rides are the same. And if you’re looking to cool down, Adventure Island water park is located just across the street!

Busch Gardens takes accessibility seriously, with most exhibits and shows available to disabled visitors. They also have a handy Special Access Program, which allows guests to enjoy attractions throughout the park, as some queues are not typically accessible to visitors with mobility issues. Onsite wheelchair and scooter rentals are available for a fee, though they must be booked in advance of your visit. You can also rent a mobility device through Scootaround and bring it to the park. Parking for guests with disabilities is available in Lot A near the main entrance on a first-come, first-served basis (must have a legal parking permit).

There’s no better way to see the city than the redeveloped Tampa Riverwalk. This 2.4-mile path follows the Hillsborough River and connects many of the city’s most popular sights, including the Florida Aquarium, Tampa Bay History Center, and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The Riverwalk is a bustling, interactive, and beautiful waterfront experience within the heart of the city, and shouldn’t be missed by any first-time visitors to the Tampa area.

The Tampa Riverwalk is accessible by wheelchair, scooter, or powerchair. The continuous pathway extends from the Channelside area to Tampa Heights along the east side of the river.

Tampa's largest aquarium, The Florida Aquarium, is among the best in the state. Conveniently located in downtown Tampa, the aquarium is home to a large simulated wetlands exhibit that lets you walk among herons, otters, and ibis as they explore the mangroves. Other popular exhibits include a simulated beach, a 500,000-gallon coral reef tank, and programs that let you swim with fish and sharks.

The Florida Aquarium places emphasis on accessibility – its main entrance is accessible by wheelchair or scooter, and the whole aquarium is wheelchair-friendly. A limited number of wheelchairs are available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis, though equipment can also be rented from Scootaround and brought to the aquarium. Handicap parking is available in the lot north of the Aquarium on the east side of Channelside Drive.

Located on the University of Tampa campus, the Henry B. Plant Museum highlights the lifestyle and tourism of America’s Gilded Age, specifically in Tampa and Florida. The museum is housed (fittingly) within the iconic Tampa Bay Hotel, which was built by railroad magnate Henry B. Plant in 1891 and has served as the home of the museum since 1933. The building has original furnishings and artifacts from its time as an elite hotel, and even includes a self-guided audio tour to introduce you to the astounding history of the building and its founder.

This beautifully renovated space is fully accessible to wheelchair users and other visitors who need to avoid stairs. Accessible ramps are located at the north end and back of the building. A free wheelchair is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, but it cannot be pre-reserved. We advise you to bring a mobility aid of some kind to help you enjoy all the exhibits in this fascinating National Historic Landmark.
